Dutch 1 to 1 General

This set of Dutch tutorials are less specific and more targeted at those who want to get a range of different things from learning Dutch. Even though all novice students will cover survival Dutch: enough Dutch to make a visit to the country or make good contacts with the locals, but what do you do from there? It depends on your needs. Those who have benefitted from these lessons have been those moving or investing overseas, spouses of overseas nationals, people who love to travel all over the world, those interested in Dutch culture, and those who just want to pass a specific examination in Dutch.

Dutch 1 to 1 Business

These lessons in Dutch are meant for those that feel that learning Dutch would make a change in their work. For starters, it is expedient to learn how to say hello/goodbye, as well as basic business protocol; once the basics have been mastered, reading and writing come to the fore. Students who have greatly benefitted have been involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where another language is required, and those working in the international academia and government circuits. Even on our most fundamental beginner's lesson, students can anticipate ending the lesson with basic telephone Dutch and e-mail Dutch skills for communicating, as well as survival Dutch if a short visit to the country is needed.

Dutch Group Lessons

If there are 2 or more of you with the same level of Dutch, the same targets within the language, and be able to study at the same time and location, then you'll be happy to know that these Dutch lessons can also be made available for Two-to-One Dutch Lessons or Small Group In-Company Dutch Lessons. Listen & Learn do not generally recommend classes of more than 6-8 people, although Taster lessons in Dutch can run with up to 12 people. Bookings must be made for all participants at the same time.

Dutch Facts

Dutch has many words deriving from Ancient Greek and Latin, but not nearly as many as in English

Dutch uses the Latin alphabet with a few extra characters; an easy way of spotting Dutch is the proliferation of double letters, for example the word 'voorraaddoos' ('supply box')

Simple written Dutch might be partly recognizable to an English speaker; though there are many pronunciation differences

Mississauga

Mississauga is city that manages to maintain its natural beauty while still playing home to over half a million residents. With more highways converging in or around Mississauga than anywhere else in Canada, it has become an ideal place to do business. Many companies with offices throughout Canada will use Mississauga as a centralized meeting point, or a destination for annual corporate gatherings. The highway network has also made Mississauga a popular spot with tourists who love the scenic beauty and the easy access from home via the national highway system of Canada. With so many people coming and going, learning a new language gives the residents of Mississauga a chance to do business with those who stop through for a visit. Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Farsi are all popular choices for those ready to learn a second language in Mississauga.
