Rochester

Rochester is the third largest city in New York, with a population of 200,000 diverse individuals. The people of Rochester enjoy a number of large bodies of water that border the area, including the Genesee River and Lake Ontario. Another New York city that ranks high on all 'Most Livable City' lists, Rochester combines the elements of a small town with the energy and fast-pace of a larger center of industry. Some of the most well-respected international companies in the world either were founded in Rochester, or currently make their home there, including: Xerox, Eastman Kodak, Paychex and Gannett Newspapers. There are many Asian-American and Hispanic/Latino families living in the Rochester area, which makes learning Spanish, Chinese, Korean or Japanese a benefit. In addition, many of the individuals living in Rochester are descendant of early 20th century immigrants – meaning the romance languages of Italian and French will always be heard to some degree on the streets of the city.
