French Lessons in Guelph

Classes can take place on any day of the week - even weekends - morning, afternoon or evening. French lessons of this type are broader and are aimed towards students with a variety of requirements. While all beginner level students will cover survival French - needed for short visits to countries where English isn't widely spoken, or if you wish to 'go local'; those studying French usually go in different directions at this point, depending on what they need. Those who have benefitted from these French classes have been those investing in or buying property overseas, those married to overseas nationals, people setting off on a round-the-world trip, enthusiasts in French culture, and those enthusiastic to pass a specific exam in French.

French 1 to 1 Business

These French lessons are driven towards people who have a requirement to learn French to bolster their work output. For novices, you will find it useful to learn basic greetings and business etiquette; and once you have become more proficient then reading and writing will come to the fore. Typical students include those concerned with import/export, those seeking work in multinational companies, international negotiations, and anyone working with international colleagues or administration. Even on our most rudimentary beginners lesson, students can expect to finish the lesson with decent telephone and e-mail French, as well as a good enough grip on the language for a short trip to the country.

French Group Lessons

The French lessons are also available for 2 or more people studying together (Two-to-One French Lesson or Small Group In-Company French Lesson). All participants must have the same level, the same business or general language needs and be able to study at the same time in the same location. The booking must be made for all participants at the same time. Listen & Learn do not recommend group classes of more than 6-8 people although In-Company Taster French Lessons can be run with up to 12 people.

French Facts

From the 1600s to the 1800s, France was the dominant European nation, and French was the common tongue for matters of culture, diplomacy and art

French was the most popular global language for many years, but gave way to English during the early 1900s

French has only two genders - masculine and feminine - and some verb tenses need auxiliary verbs, usually to have ('avoir') and to be ('être')

Guelph

The city is built above a series of detailed waterways. In fact, it is believed that over a million rivers come to a convergence beneath the downtown area of Guelph alone.
