French Courses in Los Angeles

Our French speakers, fully qualified to teach their native tongue, can train you and, if need be, the rest of your group at a time that is suitable to you, at your home or place of work. Sessions can take place on the day of your choosing - even weekends - and at the time you want: whether it be morning, afternoon or evening. If circumstances arise where your home or office is not convenient, the classes can be held at your trainer's office. Resources for the course are provided for you.

French 1 to 1 General

These French lessons fit a broader spectrum, and can be useful for those who need different things from the language. Most beginner students will have a handle of survival French by the end of their course, which will provide them without enough French to communicate at least at a basic level during short trips to the country, but those who require more would benefit greatly from these sessions. Typical students have been those eager to travel all over the world, those buying overseas property, those with foreign spouses, aficionados of French culture and those who just wish to pass a particular French exam.

French 1 to 1 Business

These courses in French are meant for those that feel that learning French would make a change in their work. For starters, it is expedient to learn how to say hello/goodbye, as well as basic business protocol; once the basics have been mastered, reading and writing come to the fore. Students who have greatly benefitted have been involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where another language is required, and those working in the international academia and government circuits. Even on our most fundamental beginner's course, students can anticipate ending the course with basic telephone French and e-mail French skills for communicating, as well as survival French if a short visit to the country is needed.

French Group Lessons

If there are 2 or more of you with the same level of French, the same targets within the language, and be able to study at the same time and location, then you'll be happy to know that these French courses can also be made available for Two-to-One French Courses or Small Group In-Company French Courses. Listen & Learn do not generally recommend classes of more than 6-8 people, although Taster courses in French can run with up to 12 people. Bookings must be made for all participants at the same time.

French Testimonials

"I needed to learn some French because I'll be relocating to Canada next year. My Business French course was great - my teacher was real professional, and if I had any questions she was happy to answer them. Can't believe how quickly I got into it."

Los Angeles

Home to around 4 million Angelenos, Los Angeles is a renowned center of entertainment and culture, technology and international trade. With its Spanish name, you would not be wrong in assuming a large quantity of Hispanic residents - a large proportion of the city's population speak both Spanish and English as part of their daily routine; and English only just outweighs Spanish as the city's lingua franca. In recent decades, Los Angeles has had a massive influx of Latino and Asian immigrants, and thanks to the populace originating from over 140 different countries, L.A. is home to over 200 different languages. This polyglotism, present throughout the city, can work as an effective encouragement for those who wish to learn another language, especially Spanish. An intensely interesting and diverse place, the city can feel almost like Central America in areas of downtown L.A., but this is emphatically offset by more affluent areas like Bel-Air and the Hollywood Hills.
