You and your group can be trained by our native speaker qualified Japanese teachers, and can meet at your place of work or home at a time convenient to you. Tutorials can take place any day of the week, including weekends, and can be scheduled for the morning, afternoon or evening. If your home or office is not suitable for you, you can attend the lesson at the teacher's offices. You will be provided with all relevant lesson materials.
These lessons in Japanese are wider-ranging in their nature, and are driven towards students who have a variety of differing needs. All beginner students will expect to study enough survival Japanese to get them through a short visit to the country, those staying on with the lesson can progress differently, depending on their individual requests and requirements. Whether you are buying property in a foreign country, married to a foreign national, planning a round-the-world trip, interested in Japanese history and culture, or if you simply want to attain a particular level of Japanese, this is the choice for you.
These Japanese Lessons are intended for people who really need to learn Japanese to help make that difference in their work. For beginners, it will be useful to learn greetings and basic business etiquette, at higher levels reading and then writing become more important. Typical students include those involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where an additional language is required, and those working with international colleagues, academia and government. Even on our most basic lesson for Beginners, students should expect to end the lesson with basic Telephone Japanese and e-mail Japanese skills for communications as well as Survival Japanese required for short visits to a country.
2 or more people can benefit studying Japanese together as these Japanese lessons are also offered to groups (Two-to-One Japanese Lesson or Small Group In-Company Japanese Lesson). Every student must have the same degree of knowledge of the language, the same business or language needs and the ability to study at the same time and place as everybody else. The booking has to be made for all students at the same time. Listen & Learn do not advocate group sessions of more than 6-8 people, though Taster Japanese Lessons can be experienced by up to 12 people.
Japanese vocabulary is scattered with loan words, mainly from English, Chinese and Dutch
Japanese uses three different alphabets simultaneously - 'Hiragana' and 'Katakana' are syllabic writing systems for Japanese and non-Japanese words respectively; then there is 'Kanji' - Chinese characters that simply have to be learnt to be understood
Japanese nouns have no gender, number or case - so the word 'hana', which means 'flower', will always be in that form if used as a noun
Japanese Testimonials
"I really enjoyed the program of my Japanese course. Eiko was really organized with my lessons and really professional. She has been as pleasant and as reliable as she has been since I started. I wish I can continue with the course, but I will be moving to Taiwan very soon. I really appreciate your help! Best Regards, Johnny,"
Anaheim
Don't tell the people of Anaheim, California that they live in a suburb of Los Angeles. This fast-growing city has a culture and an attitude all its own. When urban sprawl first hit Los Angeles, many residents moved south to Anaheim where they could enjoy more space to build their homes and start their businesses. As a result, Anaheim has become the center of Orange County, and is now known for much more than its most famous residents: Mickey Mouse and Disneyland. The Hispanic population of Anaheim is significant, as would be expected with its proximity to the Mexican-United States border. Hispanic men and women currently comprise over 40% of the entire population, making Spanish an ideal language to learn if you live in the area. Also prominent in Anaheim are Asian-Americans, African-Americans and of course the thousands of different nationalities who visit the Disneyland theme park every year. You might say it is the 'happiest place on Earth' to learn a new language!
