Our Japanese speakers, fully qualified to teach their native tongue, can train you and, if need be, the rest of your group at a time that is suitable to you, at your home or place of work. Sessions can take place on the day of your choosing - even weekends - and at the time you want: whether it be morning, afternoon or evening. If circumstances arise where your home or office is not convenient, the classes can be held at your trainer's office. Resources for the lesson are provided for you.
These Japanese lessons fit a broader spectrum, and can be useful for those who need different things from the language. Most beginner students will have a handle of survival Japanese by the end of their lesson, which will provide them with enough Japanese to communicate at least at a basic level during short trips to the country, but those who require more would benefit greatly from these sessions. Typical students have been those eager to travel all over the world, those buying overseas property, those with foreign spouses, aficionados of Japanese culture and those who just wish to pass a particular Japanese exam.
These lessons in Japanese are meant for those that feel that learning Japanese would make a change in their work. For starters, it is expedient to learn how to say hello/goodbye, as well as basic business protocol; once the basics have been mastered, reading and writing come to the fore. Students who have greatly benefitted have been involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where another language is required, and those working in the international academia and government circuits. Even on our most fundamental beginner's lesson, students can anticipate ending the lesson with basic telephone Japanese and e-mail Japanese skills for communicating, as well as survival Japanese if a short visit to the country is needed.
If there are 2 or more of you with the same level of Japanese, the same targets within the language, and be able to study at the same time and location, then you'll be happy to know that these Japanese lessons can also be made available for Two-to-One Japanese Lessons or Small Group In-Company Japanese Lessons. Listen & Learn do not generally recommend classes of more than 6-8 people, although Taster lessons in Japanese can run with up to 12 people. Bookings must be made for all participants at the same time.
Japanese has its own system of grammar which emphasizes politeness and formality
Japanese vocabulary is scattered with loan words, mainly from English, Chinese and Dutch
Japan's complex social distinctions are reflected in the language's use of 'honorifics', where special word forms, verb endings, suffixes and vocabulary are used depending on the social status of the people conversing
Japanese Testimonials
"I took some Japanese classes back at college but never learned to read and write. I picked up where I left off with my teacher from Listen & Learn and I can now read basic Japanese pretty well - I've got a long way to go is great and lessons are always really helpful."
Riverside
Located in the center of Southern California's Inland Empire, Riverside California is city where the California citrus industry was born. But what was once the home of miles and miles of orange groves, is now the home base of thriving technology businesses, luxury homes and a diverse population that represents the changes the Los Angeles area has seen over the past five decades. Although congested traffic keeps some areas more densely packed than others, there is still room for growth in Riverside. The area has historically enjoyed some of the lowest real estate prices in the California market leading to a spurt in home sales that brought more people and consumer-based businesses to the area. The Mexican-American population in this city of 300,000 people is large with almost half the residents speaking Spanish as their first language. Therefore, keeping pace in Riverside means that learning the Spanish language is a top priority.
