Korean Lessons in Portland

Our Korean speakers, fully qualified to teach their native tongue, can train you and, if need be, the rest of your group at a time that is suitable to you, at your home or place of work. Sessions can take place on the day of your choosing - even weekends - and at the time you want: whether it be morning, afternoon or evening. If circumstances arise where your home or office is not convenient, the classes can be held at your trainer's office. Resources for the lesson are provided for you.

Korean 1 to 1 General

Korean lessons of this type are broader and are aimed towards students with a variety of requirements. While all beginner level students will cover survival Korean - needed for short visits to countries where English isn't widely spoken, or if you wish to 'go local'; those studying Korean usually go in different directions at this point, depending on what they need. Those who have benefitted from these Korean classes have been those investing in or buying property overseas, those married to overseas nationals, people setting off on a round-the-world trip, enthusiasts in Korean culture, and those enthusiastic to pass a specific exam in Korean.

Korean 1 to 1 Business

Those who would benefit the most from these Korean tutorials are those who feel they need to learn Korean to help them out in their business lives. For starters, learning salutations and business etiquette is integral; once these have been practiced then reading and writing lessons can start. Typical studiers have been those involved in international import/export, negotiations and acquisitions, those in multinational companies requiring another language, and those working in any way with international governments and relevant administration. Just our simplest lesson for beginners will have students finishing the lessons with basic telephone and e-mail Korean, as well as survival Korean should a visit to the country be necessary.

Listen & Learn do not generally recommend classes of more than 6-8 people, although Taster lessons in Korean can run with up to 12 people. Korean Facts

South Koreans refer to the language as 'Hangungmal'; in the North they call it 'Chosonmal'

Experts disagree on Korean's classification - it contains aspects of several different language families, including Altaic, Japanese and Chinese, and several Turkic tongues

The national language of Korea (both North and South), Korean is also the regional language of the Jilin province in China

Portland is nationally and internationally recognized for a number of quirky points. A recognized culture of microbreweries and an ideal climate for growing roses have drawn people from all over the world to the state of Oregon's most popular city, but that's not all. Portland is a distinctly livable city, and is acclaimed as the second "greenest" or eco-friendliest city in the world after Reykjavík in Iceland. Urban planning is key to a sustainable and enjoyable life in Portland, and scores of individuals and families from the United States and abroad have chosen to make Portland their home for the years to come. This essentially translates into a cosmopolitan community where learning for life is a priority.
