Spanish Courses in Brooklyn

You and your group can be trained by our native speaker qualified Spanish teachers, and can meet at your place of work or home at a time convenient to you. Tutorials can take place any day of the week, including weekends, and can be scheduled for the morning, afternoon or evening. If your home or office is not suitable for you, you can attend the course at the teacher's offices. You will be provided with all relevant course materials.

Spanish 1 to 1 General

These Spanish courses are more general in nature and are targeted at students with a whole range of different needs. While all beginners level students can expect to cover Survival Spanish - required for short visits to a country where English may not be spoken and/or the intention is to make good contacts with the local population, students then generally progress in different directions depending on their needs. Typical students include those buying property overseas, spouses of overseas nationals, people about to set off on that long-awaited world trip, Spanish culture enthusiasts and those who are keen to pass a particular Spanish examination.

Spanish 1 to 1 Business

These Spanish courses are intended for people who really need to learn Spanish to help make that difference in their work. For beginners, it will be useful to learn greetings and basic business etiquette, at higher levels reading and then writing become more important. Typical students include those involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where an additional language is required, and those working with international colleagues, academia and government. Even on our most basic course for Beginners, students should expect to end the course with basic Telephone Spanish and e-mail Spanish skills for communications as well as Survival Spanish required for short visits to a country.

Spanish Group Lessons

2 or more people can benefit studying Spanish together as these Spanish courses are also offered to groups (Two-to-One Spanish Course or Small Group In-Company Spanish Course). Every student must have the same degree of knowledge of the language, the same business or language needs and the ability to study at the same time and place as everybody else. The booking has to be made for all students at the same time. Listen & Learn do not advocate group sessions of more than 6-8 people, though Taster Spanish Courses can be experienced by up to 12 people.

Spanish Facts

Italian and Spanish are generally mutually intelligible: native speakers of each language have little difficulty in understanding one another

Spanish nouns and pronouns don't change much in form, but they are split into 2 genders; and each verb has about 50 different forms

What we call 'Spanish', Spanish people would generally call Castilian ('castellano') to differentiate it from other regional Spanish dialects

Brooklyn

If Brooklyn was still deemed an independent city, as it was before it was consolidated into New York over 100 years ago, it would now be the 4th largest city in the USA. As it is, the 2.5 million inhabitants of Brooklyn form just one - the largest - of New York City's five boroughs. However, Brooklyn has never lost its character since merging with NYC, characterized chiefly by its individual neighborhoods, its independent art and architecture, and, perhaps most of all, its amazing ethnic diversity.
