O.D., one of New York's favorite slang terms!

<<< Back to Slang USA Cities Map
(verb - adjective) To overdo something; To be exaggerated

This would most likely be used in a conversation about someone who needs to relax a bit.

Tracey: I know Jen wants to get into law school, but she is ODin', girl. She sleeps like 4 hours a night, and whenever I see her, she is drinking a coffee bigger than my head.

Shaneequa: That is O.D.! We should probably have an intervention. I mean, it's cool that she's so motivated, but she's never gonna pass those exams if she gets burned out by studying so much.

Tracey: Word. I'll invite her to come hang with us a little on the weekend. Hopefully she ain't ODin' so much that she'll say no to a Saturday with the ladies.

“O.D.” is used mostly by the younger folks, those 30 and under. It became more popular in the definition above recently. The most common definition of “O.D.” is to overdose or binge on a substance (usually in reference to hard drugs, but the word could be used for chocolate, homework, etc. too).

Rapper King Los sings, "That's my drug, I O.D... that's my money, I O.D"
