Mooga, one of Queens's favorite slang terms!

<<< Back to Slang USA Cities Map
(noun) A lot of money.

Used to when cash is burning a hole in your wallet. Or not.

Marcus: Ronny be talking all sorts of shit for a broke-ass punk.

DeRon: Ain’t you heard? Bruva got a fat job. He makin’ mooga now.

Marcus: You trippin’.  He work at McDonald’s.

The word “mooga”, like many other inner-city slang words used in Queens, is a mispronunciation of the word “moolah”.  Moolah has been a slang word for money since the 1930’s.  Although its origins are a bit sketchy, it is said to have come from gamblers and hipsters in that era.

It is prominently used in the song “We Gettin Money Ova Here” by J.R. Writer, feat. 40 Cal
