Meet Peter, studying German, and see why they chose Listen & Learn!
Peter Learns German to Expand His World Knowledge!

Peter Dillard, 50, a renowned author from Tucson, Arizona, learned German to be able to expand his knowledge on German works of philosophy and theology. This is his story:

Listen & Learn: Hi Peter, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today!
Peter: My pleasure!

Listen & Learn: Could you please tell us a little about yourself?
Peter: My name is Peter Dillard. I am 50 years old. I work as a professional philosopher and theologian and have authored a number of books and articles in these subjects.

Listen & Learn: When did you start studying with Listen & Learn?
Peter: I began my course early this year (January, 2014).

Listen & Learn: What language did you study?
Peter: German.

Listen & Learn: Why? What were your reasons and goals?
Peter: I would like to attain a high level of fluency in German so that I read and comprehend works in my field that are written in German. But I also have a deep interest in German life and culture. Someday I would like to visit Germany and interact well with native German speakers.

Listen & Learn: Why did you choose Listen & Learn?
Peter: I had completed all four portions of the Pimsleur German course and needed help to proceed to the next level of linguistic competence. I was impressed by Listen & Learn’s ability to provide individual language instruction in my home through a tutor. Face-to-face interaction with an expert speaker is invaluable in mastering a language. Through visiting the company website, I learned that this was Listen & Learn’s primary emphasis. The price was also highly competitive with companies offering a comparable service. So I chose Listen & Learn.

Listen & Learn: Was Listen & Learn helpful?
Peter: Yes, extremely so. Every member of the staff, from the initial contact person to the course coordinator, has been a model of professionalism.

Listen & Learn: What was the most helpful thing?
Peter: My teacher is superb. Ich habe eine großartige Deutsch Lehrerin!

Liste & Learn: Would you recommend Listen & Learn?
Peter: Without any reservations whatsoever.

Listen & Learn: And on a final note, what's your favorite saying in your new language?
Peter: “Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen” (Ludwig Wittgenstein, Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus) which means “Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.”
