LANGUAGE APPS REVIEWS
beginner to intermediate
Babbel is a real-world language-learning app that gives you a series of lessons with practical vocabulary words, as well as realistic dialogues which help you see the words in action, as they’re actually used in German. There’s also grammar instruction that’s explained in a very simplistic and straightforward way, which is great for understanding the complicated gender and verb tense system of German. After the lesson, you’re given an opportunity to review and drill what you’ve learned. Each lesson lasts around 10 to 25 minutes, which makes Babbel great for practicing German while you’re on the go. However, the app works entirely online, meaning that you’ll have to be connected to the Internet in order to use it.
The best part about Babbel is that it teaches you language skills that are actually applicable and useful. For example, classes focus on real-life topics baking, car repair, and other day-to-day practical information. This makes Babbel especially useful for those who are traveling or staying in Germany. Finally, each class comes with a “Review” option, which allows you to refresh the vocabulary you’ve been learning throughout your lessons, which keeps it fresh in your mind.
