Signing app with Marlee Matlin

Do you want to learn the fundamentals sign language in your own time? Then Marlee Matlin has the app for you.

The award-winning deaf actress has released Marlee Signs, an app that shows you the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL). It starts with the signed alphabet and moves on to common signs you would use in everyday life. Instead of pictorial instructions, each sign has its own video, with a demonstration by Matlin.

“I wanted to create a simple, visual presentation of American Sign Language vocabulary that’s the next best thing to taking a class,” Matlin said in a statement.

“It’s a great starting point for learning ASL the way it should – visually, in full motion, and not just static images on a page. It’s not a substitute for taking a sign language class but I think it’s the next best thing!” (Source: Mashable)

The app is free for iOS and can be downloaded from the App Store.
