Twitter’s new languages

Twitter is a useful language-learning tool, and now it’s available in more languages! It’s just launched in simplified and traditional Chinese, Tagalog, Malay and Hindi, bringing the total number of language available to 17. Speakers of ‘street slang’ required

The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is recruiting speakers of ‘street slang’, according to an article in the Guardian today. Apparently the DEA is hiring nine people who understand black vernacular English to translate wiretaps and stand up evidence in court.
